| Issue 41 MERVYN DAY TOLD EX: On Ron Greenwood's prediction that Mervyn would be ‘West Ham's keeper for the next 10 years' It's always nice to hear anyone say good things about you but Ron's words did become a bit of a millstone towards the end of my playing career at West Ham. On losing form and getting stick from the Upton Park crowd My last couple of seasons at West Ham were very difficult for me. Once things start to go wrong and mistakes are made, you do tend to get paranoid about things. I honestly believe I should have been taken out of the side a little bit earlier than I was, given a rest and then rebuilt my confidence that way. On why, even after he left the club as a player, he still retained a soft spot for them The way I was treated by the people here when my father died will always stay with me. |
